venting in a vaulted ceiling

I live in Victoria BC and i am in the process of vaulting my attic. current construction is 2x4 trusses (32" on center) then strip sheathing (3" gap) then cedar shingle and lastly ashphalt shingles. I am planning on adding trusses to a create 16" center but am wondering about using venting baffles? r they really nessasary? or will the gap betwwen the sheathing suffice. I will only be able to use r-15 as is and the baffles seem to take up alot of room. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
cheers Rhys

use a closed cell foam. venting isn't needed and you still get high R-values.
