insulation turned black

as we have removed the sheetrock from our old garage in our first step to reclaim it as living space, some of the insualtion has turned black. would this be dirt or mold. most of it has happened where there was the likelihood of some air circulation, thus allowing the insulation to be affected. also, i would guess that i would want to remove the insulation that is now discolored.
any thoughts?
thanks.

My first guess would be mold. Moisture and dark places are a breeding ground for mold and mildew. I would remove it and replace it. Good luck.
