Attic Insulation

Hello.
I am going to install plywood in my attic for storage and I'm wondering what I should do about insulation under it. There is about 6" there now and room for more. Should I add more before installing the plywood or do I leave it alone?

6 inches of what ..cellulose? fiberglass batts? if batts whats the R value. Where do you live..whats the recommended R value for attics where you are. Regardless of wether you add more insulation its important not to compress the stuff you already have with plywood. I would say build up and over the insulation and make sure you have enough clearance to add more if needed/wanted and to avoid any compression of existing.
