vapr barrier n nails

Have a crawl space with stones over the dirt.No insulation or barrier on the floor boards.I was checking it over for mold, yes, got some, and I noticed nails coming thru from what I am assuming is the sub floor.Right in between the joists and all up and down the length. Question, how does one put up a vapor barrier with all these nails sticking down from above? Would I have to pound down every one? Gotta be a hundred or more! Any help??

Your vapor barrier (6 mill poly sheets) should be put on the dirt/stones and not up on the joists. Dont forget to insulate the inside crawl space walls as well.

oh ok,but I'm having a problem with water getting in after real heavy rains. I'm gonna try to build up tha dirt around the house and grade it away from the foundation. Not sure that will solve the problem though.Guess I'll hold off with the V.B. till after I try to solve the water problem. Thanks for your reply,I appreciate it!
