crawlspace powered vents

I have been looking at powered crawlspace vents on the net. I have a moisture problem under my house. Yes there is a vapor barrier 2 sheets thick. Which has lessened the moisture problem greatly. I think this (powered vents) would totally eliminate my problem. Any brand/type suggestions?

Thanks,
Mechrus

The advice to close vents may work in some parts of the country, or at certain times of the year depending on outside temperatures and humidity levels. Closing the vents will certainly not help all houses in all climate zones, since those vents need to be open at various times of the year.

The best thing you could do, Mechrus, is give more information about your particular situation- where you live, what type of venting you currently have, whether your poly covers the floors and walls of your crawlspace, etc.

Most powered vents (like the type you are considering) have controls that allow you to control the temperature and humidity levels to achieve the results for your particular climate and/or particular needs.

In some climates, a closed, insulated crawlspace is preferred, but these usually also require the introduction of conditioned air into the crawlspace so as to bring the conditions in the crawlspace closer to the conditions inside your home.

See if it starts to dry up this winter. Most of the humidity comes from the warm outside air in summer going in there on the cool ground,
