best practice for applying vapor barrier tape?

Hi all,

I've insulated and vapor barriered the exterior walls of my basement. I am not sure where I should use vapor barrier tape.

so far I have used it on any vertical seams where I had to overlap the vapor barrier. And also around the electrical outlets.

Do I need to apply the tape to horizontal seams along the base and top of the walls where the vapor barrier ends and the floor/roof begins.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but I won't be drywalling.

Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks.

What will your final wall covering be, if not drywall?

for the forseeable future there will be no wall coverings. Just the poly. Am not developing the basement at this point, just insulating.

OK, then I would apply tape on all edges and at all intersections and around the boxes just to keep the insulation from becoming airborne and to keep the moisture at bay. And I would opt for a thicker vapor barrier than normally used, since it may be subjected to being torn. Keep a roll of tape handy in case it happens.
