Rigid Foam fire barrier

Our local code requires (at least) a half-inch of sheetrock over any interior rigid foam as a fire barrier (or 3/4" lathe and plaster). Is there any standard on the maximum distance between the foam and the fire barrier, or does it just have to exist somewhere between the foam and interior living space? Thanks.

When you want clarification on a code, you need to check with your local code enforcement. Codes vary and local enforcement varies. You are on the right track, but give them a call.
