Poly styro foamblock insulation attic access hole

I used some all weather silicone to attach some of the polystyro block foam insulation to the topside of my attic access panel (2x2 wooden cover).

I want to put some weather stripping around the edge where the foam rests upon for some added insulation.

My question is can I add some heavier plywood to the top of styroblock insulation to get a better seal with the weather stripping without compromising the insulation value?

Thanks.

Yes..it will even add a bit. You could also use less dense weatherstrip so it will compress easier..or add the plywood to the existing plywood....whatever works best for you.
