Accessing small attic space ?
I have what I believe are called cathedral ceilings. When I enter the attic the area is open and I can walk around. This attic space corresponds with the hallway and back rooms of the house. But, once I reach the front entry area of the house the open attic space stops and there is only a small ( maybe 2 ft. h x 3 ft. w ) opening over the entry area, living room and den. Beyond this section the attic space opens up again over the kitchen. My attic insulation and air ducts need to be replaced. How does one access the above-mentioned small attic space in order to replace the insulation and run new ducting thru to the kitchen ? Thanks much for any help.

Welcome to the forums!
It is hard to visualize your space from this description. What is beyond or through the 2' x 3' opening is one example. If you could post some pictures, possibly including 1 or 2 from below, showing the ceilings, that would help us see what you have. See How To Put Pictures In Your Post.

2 questions come to mind:
Why do these need to be replaced - what are you intending or hoping to accomplish?
What do you have now; especially, are there ducts in the area above the higher ceilings?

Sorry for any confusion but I really can't think of any other way to explain it. I have a single-level house with cathedral ceilings. The unfinished attic has plenty of open space for walking around where the ceilings are low ( back part of the house ). But, the attic space becomes very small where the ceiling is high ( entry area, living room, den ).This small space ( ~ 2ft x 3 ft ) is insulated and the ventilation duct to the kitchen passes thru it. Length of this passage is ~ 20 feet. All of the existing ( batt ) insulation and ventilation ducting throughout the attic, including this passage, needs to be replaced due to rodent damage. How do you replace the insulation and ventilation ducting in this narrow passage is my question.

I can't speak for others here, but I'm having trouble visualizing how there can be a space that's just 3' x 20' that's above an entry area, living room and den. Pictures are likely to help.
