Question Insulating house with carport

Separated from Insulation Above Carport

I have no wall [in the attic] between the carport and the house, and if I understand correctly, no enclosed ceiling above the carport (it only has roof rafters and siding panels that bounce around in high wind) That half of the house is quiet a bit colder. It's a newer home @2006, if that makes any difference.

I've read the previous threads but have no idea what to start with. I just want to make it warmer. Any help?

Welcome to the forums!

I separated your question from the older thread so that it, and your answers, could stand on their own and not be confused with other replies.

You need a firewall to separate the space above your conditioned space and your carport for several reasons. One is to prevent the spread of a fire or of carbon monoxide, and another is to allow you to properly insulate and ventilate the attic above your living space. The attic above the carport should be fine as it is.
