Is this a good deal on radiant barriers?

$179/ shipped at my HD:

Reach Barrier 4 ft. x 250 ft. Silvertanium Reflective Attic Insulation Roll-3023 at The Home Depot

I'm new to the whole idea. I kind of stumbled on it while researching AC improvements. I have most of my attic gutted right now and plan to do the whole thing up. I live in a hot part of so cal (100F summers).

Ironically, insulation is a very good radiant barrier as well. If light can't shine through, then radiant energy is blocked also. The number one place for a radiant barrier is your shingles, as they can reflect the heat before it enters your structure. In the hot south the next place is the bottom of the roof sheathing.

Once you go inside, including a radiant barrier can be part of the plan, but by itself it isn't going to work low cost miracles. I would hold off buying a RB until you have considered the reast of the insulation package.
