Insulating room above the garage.
I have a room that has two exterior walls. One to the outside and one adjacent to the attic above the garage which is freezing or hot depending on the season. Half of the floor in the room is also over the garage. Would it make more sense to add insulation to the wall exposed to the attic or the floor. There is only drywall, batts and then sheathing between the garage attic and the room. The wall is accessible above the garage and can be insulated easily with spary foam or foam board. The floor would have to be opened up by removing all the drywall in the garage to add insulation, which would be costly. If only half of the floor is over the garage and the entire wall is exposed to cold air, wouldn't it make more sens to insulate the wall?

If you can insulate only one then do it to the greater area exposed to the colder temperature. My personal opinion is that you will need to insulate both areas to as high a degree as possible.

I'm with Furd - some insulation may help but I think you'll only see good results with insulating all of these surfaces.

Welcome to the forums!
Before you spend time, effort and money on either the attic wall or the garage ceiling, the answers to some questions might help us focus our replies.
How well insulated is the ceiling of this room? How well ventilated is the space above that ceiling and insulation?
How well sealed is this room against air and heat loss?
How well insulated is the exterior wall?
