Could unfinished basement be better insulated than main floor?
My AC wasn't working during summer and the unfinished basement is still not as hot as the main floor. Basement has no insulation, just concrete foundation wall, while main floor is insulated up to code.

Well, once you get below the topsoil, the ground is a constant 55F (or so)... so it's no wonder the basement is cooler. Has nothing to do with insulation in that case.

My basement is pretty much a constant 60ish temp year round and we dont do any cooling in the summer and minimal heat in the winter. Has nothing to do with insulation, just the earths natural temp.
Great place to take a nap on a hot summer day, a bit cool to sit down there for a couple hours in the winter watching a movie without a blanket.
Makes you wonder why we just dont just build all out home underground!
