Room over garage insulation

I removed a bathroom installed in a bonus room over the garage. I noticed there is no insulation between the truss bottom chords under the bonus room. There are insulation dams at the eaves and was wondering if it's normal to insulate the garage ceiling/bonus room floor. Attached is a drawing showing the existing insulation in pink. Thanks

The floor (garage ceiling) should be fully insulated. Making changes will require you to determine the minimum code levels of insulation and bring your work up to current standards. When you pull your permits talk to them about what needs updating.

Living space over a garage also needs to meet fire codes and air sealing between it and the garage. A car left running down there would present a huge problem for anyony in the room above.
