Plastic or not.

Heard it both ways, Have bathroom down to studs around tub, should plastic sheet be put up first or Just green board and cenBehind studs is a attic space unfinished and open to outside air.

You don't want green board. Cement board. What are you going to cover the walls with? Tile? Are any of the walls an outside wall? If so then yes a vapor barrier should be used.

Heard it both ways, Have bathroom down to studs around tub, should plastic sheet be put up first or Just green board and cement board. Will tile the tub area. Just attic behind studs wuith insluation. Attic is vented to outside.but not a outside wall. One side is a outside wall.

Don't use greenboard under the tub surround! As Norm said, you'd use cement board. You need a moisture barrier behind the cement board, either plastic or tar paper. .... or you can skip the moisture barrier and use RedGard over the cement board although it is pricey.

Personally I wouldn't use green board anywhere it the bath rm, regular drywall has all the moisture protection it needs once it's been primed and then painted with a coat or two of latex enamel.
