Smile insulating polebarn ceiling

am getting small polebarn ready for a work are (24x24)..am looking to insulate ceiling to keep heat from going through roof. would like to put something in or on the rafter ties. some have mention dry wall..I was thinking of put sheets of poly (white) between the rafter ties. I am going to have a small gas heater so I do not know if that will make a difference. the building is 24x24x8. live in Michigan so I will be insulating the walls and garage door. just thought I would do ceiling first. Am open to any ideas.

Heavy duty plastic used for encapsulating crawl spaces would be a good candidate. It's available with a reinforcing mesh for strength and is usually bright white on one side. It would be perfect to form a lightweight and inexpensive "ceiling". Of course take into consideration the spacing of your collar ties.
