Noise insulation?

Has anyone used the sound insulation bats by Owen Corning or any other manufacturer? Were you please with results? Did you use the special 'strips' to keep drywall or other wall covering off studs?
Any hints on sound insulation, appreciated.
Thanks for any feedback.

The primary way sound is transmitted through a wall is vibration. Both the metal strips and insulation are designed to absorb the vibration. Works very well.

Acoustal Fire Batt ( by Roxul, owens corning etc etc ) made of mineral wool is superior to unfaced fiberglass for sound transfer benefits. This product is very itchy to work with so be sure to were long sleeves gloves and a breathing mask if you decide to go that route.. No matter what you end up using make sure there are no voids in the material used between stud spaces and over doors. small gaps at doublers can be caulked also, areas around electrical outlets in the wall should be sealed well.

Remember once the drywall is up you can't go back and do it right!!

Good Luck

Jim
