Question Insulation in attic-stickbuilt roof/mobile home

Prior homeowners put a stickbuilt roof on top of our double-wide mobile home. Needs tons of insulation. Question is does the insulation go in the rafters or the floor joists? And do I need faced insulation, especially if you can see the metal roof. Living in upstate NY, is R-39 my best bet? TIA.

There is a good chance there is insulation under the original metal roof. Adding insulation on top of the metal may cause a moisture problem that may damage the original metal roof which is a major part of your structure. Adding more insulation would save you money on your bills, but the integrity of the structure is far more important. I would not recommend adding more insulation.
