What suggestions might you have for venting between the insulation and sloped portion of the roof that tops out with a flat roof, for an old (105yrs) house? What is the best way to add a roof vent without it becoming a rain water drain?

The best choice would be if the space between the flat roof and the ceiling for the room below is at least 2 feet, then put gable vents. If there is inadequate space between them, then putting roof vents on the slope section of the roof, towards the top would be the next best choice.
