Insulation & sheetrock Costs

Hi,
I have open rafters on the ceiling with 4x4 tongue and groove boards, then 4 inch rigid insulation then sheathing and shingles. I need to insulate and sheetrock the ceiling (about 8 inche deep rafters).

Any idea what a general pricing guideline is for foam insulation, vapor barrier and sheetrock ? (per foot or however it gets estimated ?)

I have assumed spray on foam since my rafters vary from 14 to 24 inches apart on a cathedral ceiling. (1975 house)
Thank you,
Frank

Material costs

Costs for building materials tends to vary from area to area. Shop around with local building suppliers for the best price.

Greetings,

I have done several of these with very good results using a 2 layer radiant barrier(RB).

You could have moisture and mold problems with foam in this type of installation and the RB has much more insulation value than the foam. It also acts as your vapor barrier.

Install 2x2 across the space between the beams and install the RB and then your drywall. Total space used, 2". Leaves you about 5 1/2" of beam showing.

If you want a sample of this material leave your mailing address and I'll you a pc. [email protected]

Thank you for considering my opinion.
