DIY subsurface drip lawn irrigation
I looked at Netafim and Rainbird but neither has a real DIY manual that I could find. I have a small lawn that is half torn up already (15'x15') and I'd like to do my part to reduce water consumption but I don't know if anyone is really targeting this for DIY.
Anyone done this? Seems like water savings would be substantial in a hot arid area with clay soil.
However, it looks like it may require replacement of all existing convential components.

Here is an article with some diagrams and photos of an installation.

After looking at the netafim site, it appears that one simply installs the tubing with the emitters and ties it all into a feeder. Given the recommendation to replace the surface soil, http://************/cosfj , installing the lines when the new soil is installed should not be a problem. You could just lay it in place and guard it when the soil is dumped and spread. The variables would include available flow and pressure and required flow and pressure for sections. Seems eminently do-able.
