Rainbird valve
When the controller tells the valve, #6 to open it doesn't move. If I open the bleeder the water starts to flow to the sprinkler heads.
When the system is going from one zone to the next and it gets to zone 5 the next valve on zone six opens at the same time.
This particular valve on zone 6 was put in the valve box last summer, but never used. This is the first time trying to use it.
What do you think is going on?

Check your controller to make sure the wires that control zones 5 and 6 are not touching which would then short out, making both zones come on at the same time. If all the wires go to a main valve box before going to separate valves, they could be crossed there too. Try disconnecting the wire to the solenoid at zone 5 valve and then run a manual start on zone 6 to see if it works ok. If it does, then there could be a short somewhere between zone 5 and 6. The fact that you have zone 6 working when you bleed the valve is a good sign indicating an electrical problem. Finally, try replacing the solenoid on zone 6 since it was previously installed by someone and not used for some time........it could be defective.
