Irrigation Valves

My lawn irrigation valves are usually covered with water down in the box they sit in. I know they are made for high moisture conditions, but are they designed to operate under water most of the time? There are no leaks, just a fact of clay with a sandy/loam top. No problems with the valves so far, just wondering if they will have a shorter life from their constant immersion.

I know this is not the answer you want but ...... maybe. If they are quality valves you are OK. If not quality valves they will last along time but eventually fail. Either way you are good for quite awhile.
