Decorative stone etching

I would like to put right outside our front door some flat stone. I don't want to cover the yard, just a few with carvings/etchings in them. Is there a "recommended" flat surface stone, that would carve easily, but still take the abuse of outdoors without washing the etching away? I will be using a Dremel to do the etching if that helps.

thanks
matt

Thanks for looking at an odd question..

I decided to try a few different bits for my Dremel and found a bit that will work. I tried on just a "normal" brick and worked just fine. It's just going to be slow going, so I don't make crooked lines. Thanks for all that looked.

Good luck with your project. Going slow will certainly produce better results. I use my Dremel a lot. Found that the router base attachment is really good for control.

corded vs. cordless Dremel

majak...
I love my Dremel. I have the lith-ion cordless version. Do you have one of the corded? I keep looking at the new 400xpr (or whatever model it is), and am thinking of getting a corded.

I have the corded model. 400 XPR with all the attachments is next on my list.

If you happen to get it soon (or before I do), can you send me a simple pm letting me know how you like it?

thanks
matt
