removed tree
I removed a 30 years old tree from my backyard last week. The stump together with a small part of the body (20" diameter) have been kept to be used as one of the bases for the floating deck I am going to build.
My question is that should I do something special after the removal in order to assure that the remaining part of the tree will remain strong enough to be a base for the deck.
Thanks
Cyrus

Are you saying you are going to build a deck and use part of the tree stump are a support for the deck ? If so I would not do that. The stump will rot and your deck will have problems, plus if you are getting a bldg permit the inspector will fail you.
