Winter sapling care

I have a new sapling in my yard, which grew from a seed, I guess. I believe it is a Sugar Maple, is about 15" tall, and very healthy. I transplanted it to a more favorable spot, and am now concerned how to care for it with the winter coming. I'm in NE Ohio and winter's can be very harsh. Any suggestions?

Hi Sutter,

Check to see that it's not planted too deeply so the rootflare is exposed, mulch and water when it's dry and there's no snow cover and the ground isn't frozen if it's dry.
