Tree staking

I have 3 queen palms going in my front yard that need to be staked. What is the best way to go about this. I was thinking about getting 2x2 wood poles and attaching rubber pieces from the poles around the trunk of the palm. How long do the poles need to be in relation to the tree and how much of the pole needs to be buried.

Thanks in advance.

I used twine and tent stakes with pieces of garden hose around the twine where it contacted the tree. I think that's simpler than what you're proposing.

How many do you use per tree? Als how do you keep the string tight without damaging the tree.

Three stakes is pretty standard. The places where the twine meets the tree are where I run the twine through pieces of garden hose, that's how I keep from harming the tree.
