tree removal

i have a 60' black walnut in my front yard which i am about to remove due to the fact that it has pretty much wiped out any and all of my front lawn w/ the toxicity of it's root system. does anyone know how long i should wait before attempting to reseed and plant a river birch. i don't know how long the roots emit the juglone.

Juglone toxicity can occur for years. http://www.wvu.edu/~agexten/hortcult...s/blkwalnt.htm

Sorry, but River Birch is susceptible: http://web1.msue.msu.edu/msue/iac/greentip/blackwal.htm

thanks for the useful advice and the useful links. actually, i was looking at planting a heritage river birch, which seems to fall on the "good" list.
