Garden Fence to Keep Deers Out

I am planning to build a fenced garden as we have a big deer population here. Now my question is how high the fence needs to be to keep the deer out? I would like to keep the fence as low as possible for aesthetical reason, but worred the deer would still be able to jump in and out if it is too low.
Any idea? Thanks.

What kind of fence, and how big of a garden? Deer can jump a 6 foot fence, but they tend not to if they can't see through the fence. Also they don't like to jump into a relatively small fenced in area.

Otherwise, standard height for a deer fence seems to be 7' - 8'.

Then there are people who say they have had no problems with 4' chicken wire. Go figure.

Guess it all depends on how hungry those "deers" are! (Loved the subject by the way. LOL)

Thanks for the response. What in my mind now is something like a wood lattice panel with the size about 25x25 feet. Is this considered small for the deer?
