Gravel driveway gutter and drainage

Hi. I have a hard compacted gravel base driveway going down a fairly steep hill. Erosion has made a rough ditch down one side for drainage with my help in keeping it directed and patching when it begins eating out the dirveway too much.

What can I do to say line the ditch, or in someway stop the erosion and improve the looks? Thanks so much in advance.

Welcome to the forums!

A lot depends on what type of soil and how much water.

Large gravel type rocks can help to stablize the ditch but you want to be carefull you don't force the water back unto the driveway. A more expensive option would be to pour a "curb" at the ditch side of the drive to force the water to stay off of your road.

I also live on top of a hill but most of my land is slate rock. My driveway is close to .3 mile long winding up the side of the hill. It "ditches" to the inside and while I can neglect it some, bad spots need attention sooner better than later and I must spend a few days once a year to get it right.
