How do you set a drain in a lawn?

My backyard receives a lot of run off during heavy rains to the point that i have fast moving water traversing the lawn. There is currently a drain and drainbox set into the lawn that connects to a drain pipe to reroute the water. However, there has been a lot of erosion around the drain. Is there a way to reset the drain so that there will not be the erosion?

If this is fast moving water, I think some sort of river rock or pea gravel or the like is your best best. Surround your drain with this stuff. However, make sure it is large enough it does not actually go into the drain and clog it.

regarding gravel surround

I thought of that but am concerned that the water will then sink down through the gravel, get under the drain box and cause it to float upward. Tho' I suppose if the inlet and outlet pipes are perforated the water sinking through the gravel will just drain into that. Any further ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

sorry, that is pretty much all I know about drainage. You will need a more knowledgeable person than I to assist you further.
