pressure vacuum breaker vs anti-syphon valve?
I have a pressure vacuum breaker on my sprinkler system (it has a brass bell-shaped top). I didn't get it shut off in time last fall before the first freeze, and it now water gushes all over, so I assume I have to replace it.
I notice that anti-syphon valves are generally cheaper. Are they interchangeable?
Thanks

No don't replace it with new, all you need is a poppitt kit, it sounds like a febco 1" rpavb it is code in most places. you may be able to get the kit on line or at a plumbing supply co. probably a 761 model only about $20 for the kit just take off the 1/4" nut on the bell and unscrew the plastic piece below that bell which is probably what is broke. The plastic breaks before the brass saving you $ good luck!!
