Lawn critter problem

We are in SE Michigan. Something has been really tearing up our lawn, and several neighbor's lawns as well. We have determined that it is skunks digging for grubs. None of us has put down grub killer in recent years. I know the time for this is long gone for this year, but we want to prepare for spring. So my question is when to put down the grub killer, and timing between grub killer and fertilizer.
I thought you needed to determine when the grubs hatch, if they hadn't yet hatched, then the grub killer wouldn't do any good.
What a mess we have to look forward to.

Not a mess at all. I put down Grub Ex every spring. usually around the time I fertilize for the 1st time. It goes down like fertilizer and works great. One treatment a year and you're done.

I have areas of my yard that I don't treat. Moles, skunks and crows tear it up. However, in the area I care about I never have grubs. Instead, the lawn is full of earthworms.

Thanks Wayne,
That is what we will do this spring.
Now it's almost time to get the snowblower ready.
