Lawn seed over Snow???

Anybody recommend broadcasting grass seed over snow. I have heard of this but never tried it.
Seems like a good procedure since the snow is fresh and one could see where and how the seeds are placed.

Never heard of it, but my thought is, the birds would eat them, since it's hard for them to find food when snow's on the ground.

Grass Seed

It is a very good way. The darker seed absorbs heat and melts its way down through the snow to the ground.

The melting snow helps carry the seed into the ground

We do it here quite a bit - we call it seeding the snow

I would think one problem might be if you get heavy rain before the seed can germinate.
