Round Up Or Bleach

Hello,
There is an area behind my property that was full of weeds and vines. I cleaned it up last Fall. The township only mows the grass from 4 feet off the road. beyond that is where I cleared and cleaned most of the brush, weeds and vines. Some property owners have already done the same thing and planted fescue.
This Spring when new growth starts, I was thinking of using Roundup to kill everything. But at about $23.00 for 1.33 gallon, it may need more then I anticipated.
So I was wondering if I can use bleach instead. I do not intend to plant anything until Spring of 2012.
Would this cause a problem?

Home made remedies may work for the weak species of weeds but I have these 1/16 to 1/8th size vines or roots running along the top of the soil. I believe these may be coming from weeds that grew into trees and I have 5 of these growing behind my property. I rather see these trees killed and then replace with 2 trees that will give me some color in the fall.
So I am sure I will need something stronger then what you suggest.
What I am looking for is:
Will the application of bleach kill all vegetation including trees and what are the effects on the soil after 1 year from the application.

Roundup takes more than one application on tough weeds but you can usually buy concentrates which you dilute and that brings the price down (you want about a 2% solution)

Vinegar is effective as well, I would not use bleach

And what would be the rate of vinegar application to water or do I use it full strength?

Bleach or vinegar will do little to get rid of the weeds.
They both would have the same effect as mowing.

Unfortunately there is a reason Round-Up is so expensive and that is because it works.
You could try to purchase it in bulk.
Here, at an agricultural supplier it costs about $100.00/10 litres for farm grade concentration and this will last me for several years for a couple of acre rural property.
At what rate do you mix the Round-Up you can get?

If you knew others who also could use some Round-Up you could share a jug.

Afraid not. My neighbors are content with the way their areas look.
