Renting a stump grinder

I've cut down or had cut down about 12 oak trees over the past 1-2 years. All of the trees had to come down for various reasons. To grind 5 stumps I was quoted $450. The stumps are 12-30 inches in diameter. I was told that renting a small stump grinder from a local home improvement store with a 9 inch blade would take hours for each stump, that I need to rent at least a 15 inch blade machine. I haven't checked locally on renting the larger one. The small one rents for $150 a day. Anyone have experiance on how well the smaller ones work and if I could get by with the small one based on the number I have to grind?

I do not recommend renting the smaller one. Here is a smaller one at work, and as you can see in the video, it will take forever and this one has a 14" wheel: stump grinder

If your going to rent one I suggest one like this: self propelled stump grinder

I had a guy come out with a machine similar to the larger machine, to do 8 stumps and he only charged $175. I found him on Craigslist. I suggest getting more bids.
