DIY Sprinkler System

I was wondering if anyone knows of a DIY sprinkler system that can be easily installed without running rigid pipe. Something with flexible lines that can be buried only a few inches deep without digging up the yard considerably.

Maybe but I've never heard of one. Only thing I've seen with flexible lines is to attach quick connects on the sprinkler heads and on a garden hose so you can move the hose between them to supply their water.

What type of flex lines are you talking about? Basically you do not want PVC correct?

The black poly sold and the home stores is the best you will get in terms of flexible.

What about using PEX?

I noticed one major hardware store chain had PEX listed for sprinklers.

I was more or less thinking about a DIY sprinkler kit, not piecing one together. I found this one: New Sprinkler Systems | Install DIY Lawn Sprinkler System Kits. I only need to cover my front yard, which is only about 1000 sq ft so this may work. My water pressure isn't very good though. Perhaps replacing the 1/2" outdoor line feed with 3/4" would help? (I need to replace it anyhow--it's polybutylene).

Last spring I ran my system with PEX as a test. So far no problems. It's more expensive than PVC but it can freeze without damage and it is flexible so it was easy to fit into my very curvy layout. With any sprinkler system there will be some digging especially if you want pop-up sprinkler heads.

mossman you do not need that system. You can do the same thing with products from the home store.

Here is an example of what I did with 4 way hose bib splitters. I have 11 zones running one head per zone...LOL
