fertilizer application

I live in the Northeast, and am wondering when to fertilize my lawn for upcoming fall, and winter.

Thanks

I'm in the same climate zone and I topseeded and fertilized last weekend. I do it the same time every year. The seed has already germinated and the grass is starting to come in.

If you want to overseed I would probably do it within the next week or two. If you are just fertilizing you probably have an extra week or so, just get it down before the grass goes dormant.

In my opinion fall fertilizing is more important than fertilizing in the spring, at least here in New England.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with your suggestions.

I also, have planted grass seed in areas that are bare in belief that the cool mornings, and warm days will help. I guess I'll fertilize the end of this month,or first week in October.
