Double check backflow preventer

I purchased a watts 3/4" double check backflow preventer valve for my irrigation system and I was wondering if someone can steer me in the right direction on how to install it. I am going to installing it inside my home right off of the water main.

The ends of the valve are female threads. Do I just connect the water main to one end and copper out the output end with a shutoff valve?

I would T off the 3/4" water main, install a shutoff valve and then the backflow preventer.

You can buy 3/4" copper male adapters to fit that. Also it has a directional flow arrow on it that usually points towards the sprinkler system.
