wifi sprinkler controller?

I am thinking of installing a wifi controller for my sprinkler system. The one I like so far is:

Amazon.com: RainMachine - The Forecast Sprinkler - Smart WIFI Irrigation Controller: Patio, Lawn & Garden

The price is a little steep, but since it adapts to local weather conditions automatically, I think I can recover the cost in the first year. Does anyone have one of these, or any other brand? Any reason not to install a wifi controller for the sprinklers?

How about a $50 rain sensor so your irrigation system knows how much water actually has fallen on your property?

I considered that, but I would have to mount it outside and run a wire to the present controller in the garage. Also, I have heard form some folks that the rain sensors don't work that great.

The RainMachine adjusts daily watering based on weather data from NOAA, so the savings add up daily. Still, the price is steep enough that I'm unlikely to buy it right this minute. Was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it.
