swing set carabiner

Hello,

Built a swing set a few years ago and the kit came with carabiners that are used to attach the swing chains to the top brackets. The carabiners are starting to rust and I'd like to replace them.

Every one I've seen at Home Depot says "not to be used for playground equipment" in fine print. they have a weight capacity of over 500 lbs.

What does everyone use and what weight capacity? Is there another grade carabiner I should be using?

Thanks for the help.
Scott

I can't imagine why those wouldn't be acceptable for a single kids swing. I'm sure it's labeled for liability reasons. Wait...a snap on carabiner?

I'd use the screw together type links instead. Cequent® 49135 - 1/2" Quick-Link Chain Hook-Up (10000 lbs)

I agree with GG. Perhaps you can find some in stainless steel to avoid the rust issue. Most of them are only zinc plated and do not last that long.

Since you were looking at HD here's one in SS: Lehigh 1,200 lb. 1/4 in. x 2-1/4 in. Stainless-Steel Quick Link-7441-12 at The Home Depot
