Ideas for gravel walkway border along fence

I plan on putting in a gravel walkway on the side of my house, between my house and the adjacent fence. Currently the area is a mixture of grass/moss/rock. Anyways, the gravel will go up to the house foundation on the house side, but I'm looking for ideas on what to do along the fence. The fence will be separating the neighbors grass and my gravel walkway, so I need some sort of border along the gravel.

I was thinking just running bricks on edge so they are just under the fence. That should keep the neighbors grass out. Either that or the plastic border stuff. Any other ideas?

I hate the plastic border. I'd rather use the steel or aluminum. More expensive, yes, but will last forever and can be easier to install.

Yeah I'm not a fan either...kind of want to stay away from the plastic borders.

I forgot that treated lumber (2x4) is another option.

Well, a problem with that is warping and twisting. I don't really think it's a viable alternative.

Steel edging is durable but difficult to work with and only bends in one plane and usually comes in 20' sections which can be difficult to transport. I know you're gonna hate me but I like the plastic edging used for pavers.

I'll think about the plastic edging. One thing is that I have to deal with fence posts, so I wouldn't have a continuous piece of edging (if I want to keep the neighbors grass out). I suppose I could put the plastic edging between the fence posts.

Most PT 2xs aren't rated for ground contact! That said, close to 20 yrs ago I used PT 2x4s for a border in some of my landscaping and it appears to still be in decent shape. I didn't have any warping issues but it is buried about 1/2 way with sod on one side and mulch on the other.
