Lawn Newbie, Need Some Help

I've got mostly dark green grass that grows in my front yard and it grows at a nice pace. However, I have this lighter green grass (I think it's grass) that grows much faster so I have to mow more often. I also get these weeds or crabgrass popping up all over. Have a look at the video and let me know how to get started on fixing my front lawn. I'm still new to lawn care so any help is appreciated.

Most grass seeds and even sod are a blend of different varieties so it's very common to have different types of grass together. Your front lawn is small enough that you can continue pulling the offending plants out and over the course of time you'll get them all.

There are tons of websites out there that will help you identify crabgrass. Products that kill it after it's emerged have been removed from the market so we're left with pre-emergent products. You apply them in late winter/early spring to prevent crabgrass from germinating in spring.
