The sky's the limit. Those are all very different areas but first start by thinking of what you want to see in those areas. Do you want something green or do you want something that flowers? How much maintenance do you want to do?
When choosing plants keep in mind their eventual size. Right next to the house you don't want anything that will get too big or has invasive roots that could damage your foundation. Out by the fence you have the option of going with something bigger.

I'll echo Dane's comments. All the plants you have now have to go away. They are planted too close to the foundation and will cause problems, not only with the foundation, but with the side of the house. Many houses are "decorated" to sell, without regard to the ramifications 5 years down the road. Anything that grows much more than 2' high at maturity, should be at least 3' from the house, if at all. Low growing plants always look good and present the least problems.
Not sure what someone thought about that cedar growing under the eave and next to the house, but in 5 years it will be 15' tall and at least 4' in diameter. See?
