How to wire a sprinkler timer

I bought a new 4 zone orbit sprinkler timer. I currently have 7 sprinkler wires not connected to a timer. I am not sure how to connect it. I also don't know how many zones I have. I attached a pic with how I connected it. Please correct if possible

Just by looking at your last picture you have at least 5 zones. If you have more solenoids elsewhere you will need another controller or different controller.

Color means nothing in irrigation wiring. I see you have a yellow connected to "sensor" and an orange to "24vac out", I doubt that is correct. You need to cut the tie wrap and see what wires are connected to what solenoid valve and then you can wire from there.

Cutting the bundle open will allow you to determine what color goes to what zone.

As it currently stands..... your wiring is:

Blue -------> Zone 1
Green -----> Zone 2
Red -------> Zone 3
Brown ----> Zone 4
White ----> COM (connects to one wire of each valve)

Orange and yellow will not be needed.
If you need help with a specific controller..... let us know which model. There are several 4z models.
