Sprinkler timer controller replacement

I need to replace the Toro sprinkler timer controller that may have loose connection or something else that makes the display hardly show anything. The schedule switch is also loose. This controller has been installed by builder over a decade ago and I don’t think I will be able to find the exact one to replace. I am looking to get something compatible that will be easy to replace. Any recommendation on what controller I should get to match the wire colors for the simple swap? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have a 12 zone controller there.

You can go with the Toro TMC424E series. It comes as a 4 zone unit and you would buy an extra 4 zone expansion unit for a total of 8 zones.

You could also the basic TMC-212 series. It comes as a 2 zone unit and you would buy 3 extra zone expansion modules for a total of 8 zones

The wiring is straightforward. The number is the zone and common is shared by all the valves.

You could pick a controller from any manufacturer. They all install very similarly so there is not big benefit to staying with your current brand other than perhaps familiarity with programming. Rainbird for example has a 12 zone controller that would not require the use of expansion modules.
