How can I get rid of some of the yellow in my lawn?

I am a newer homeowner that takes care of my own lawn, and am looking for some advice on how to remove some of the yellow from my lawn. Overall, the lawn looks nice, BUT there are small areas that are yellower than I'd like.

I mow it myself and am always keeping the grass at 3.5" tall, and I have TruGreen coming ever so often to do fertilizer/weed control. I also have an inground sprinkler system that waters 3 times a week.

Any ideas on how to green up those yellower areas? I have always gotten great advice from users on this site in the past.

Thank you!

3x a week seems excessive - could be you're watering too much.

Lawns benefit most from 1-2" of water per week, delivered in a couple long stretches so as to allow the water to penetrate deeply into the soil; this promotes deep root growth. Frequent, light amounts of water promote shallow root growth.

Our area's had way too much rain this month. I think that's the problem. Once we see more sun, should help.

Thanks for the quick reply!! Would that cause yellowing in the grass? Is there any way to reverse this, or is that yellow grass dead at this point?

Grass just goes to sleep. It'll be green again.
