How to protect light fixtures from elements ??

What can I apply to lihht fixtures to stop from fading and rusting

The first step is to not buy anything from HDLP (HD, Lowes,Menards). All they sell are cheap, really cheap fixtures, fans faucets etc.

They look nice coming out of the box but after a couple of years they look like krap and the cycle continues.

Quality lite fixtures can be found, they cost more, but will greatly outlast the junk they sell, you should not have to do any post purchase improvements to make them last.

I agree, not a whole lot you can do to the cheaper fixtures other than paint them when they start looking bad. The better quality fixtures will look better a lot longer.

You could spray a clear over it which might give some extra protection. Not sure it would be worth the effort assuming you'd have to mask off the surrounding wall, glass and/or whatever.
