Sprinkler indexing valve

The index valve seems to be stuck on one zone. I have cleaned out some debris, nothing looks broken or worn. The stem is flexible when I push it down but it will not change zones. Water is from lake if that makes any difference.

Those can be somewhat tricky. They can get stuff stuck in the mechanism and jam it. Other things that cause problems..... incoming water pressure not strong enough. Zones don't relieve pressure and valve won't change.

Have you taken it apart to clean it ?
A model number of it may be helpful.

At first I thought it lost prime, so I primed it. It worked for one zone, took it apart, cleaned it, work for another zone, took apart again, worked third zone. Noticed a bunch of weedy-looking stuff in the lake and wondered if the water was too low and was hindering the pressure; although, the water seemed to be plenty coming from sprinkler heads.
