Grass and soil invading concrete patio

Just about everywhere in my yard I'm having an issue where the ground is taking over the concrete slab for my patio, driveway, water shed, etc. I believe maybe these concrete areas are sinking or runoff has occured because the ground seems much higher near slab. What can I do to recover this? I actually have places where there is extensive overgrowth.

Keep cleaning up the slab with a shovel, maybe install a border/barrier between the ground and the slab.

I got it cleared from some spots but how or why would the slab appear sunken?

While it's possible, it's unlikely the slab sunk. If it sunk there would be evidence where it meets the house along with cracks as it's unlikely it would sink evenly. It's more likely that the ground around the slab as been built up due to erosion somewhere else.

Without a picture not sure anyone here would be able to even guess.
Most often I find the slab was just poured too close to grade.
The slab should have been at least 1" above grade.

Often it's erosion moving dirt around and not a concrete slab sinking. Over time water and wind move dust and dirt around. It moves until it hits the edge of the concrete and settles. Layer after layer over time and the ground slowly rises.

Grass clippings, dust in the air etc over the years build up and it appears the slab is sinking.

Go rent/buy a gas powered edger, it will look great. DO NOT buy one of the hand edgers unless you're Charles Atlas... it'll kill you. Been there, done that.
